Dakota R/T User Success

In the last issue, we pointed out Brian's achievements with the End-of-Day Dakota in our Gallery of Customer Successes.  This time we'd like to parade Mike's accomplishment with Dakota R/T using a bot he authored.  Using history since April, he hypothetically gained $16,000 per contract on the S&P 400 MidCap e-Mini with an equity curve straightness of 95%.  Good going, Mike.  The top plot in the chart is price, the middle is his signal and the bottom is his equity curve.  Click the image to go to the Gallery of Customer Successes to see bigger images.

New in BioComp Trading Technologies

New Release: Dakota EOD version 1.6
On August 3rd, we released version 1.6 of the end-of-day Dakota, now with expanded Metastock support and 8 new expansions to the built-in ScriptBot "Dakota Dot" API.  The API changes help users who wish to have arrays of historical values return from key functions and do compact nesting of functions within ScriptBots, such as;

    Dakota.AMA(Dakota.Highest_A(Price,14),10)

New Release: Dakota R/T 1.0.81
On August 18th, Dakota R/T not only got the API enhancements, but also the latest chart control, expanded bar counts in displays, and rock solid tick handling within the Tick Historian.  Dakota R/T now achieves a new level in tick processing robustness.

Carl's Swarms

It is time for an update on my watched swarms. I've got swarms for Yahoo!, WCI, NASDAQ 100 Rydex Velocity, Propane futures, SIRI ,WAG, MCHP, AXP, NASDAQ eMini and an Investor S&P500.

Of these, 82% have made gains since their creation.  The biggest loser was Yahoo! because it is a long-only swarm and it was long during the large price correction on July 19th.  Such is life.  The biggest winner continues to be Propane futures, up 33% since creation, with an annualized return of 79%.  The NASDAQ eMini video swarm has clocked in almost 5% since the video was made on August 1st, which gives it a large annualized return, but it is still a "young puppy", so we'll see how it does over the coming months.

One of the oldest swarms, AXP continues to perform well, snagging about $7.80/share since January 20th when it was made.  It's a long-only Advance/Decline Pessimist that has made 18 trades of which 13 were winners (72% winners).  Nicely, there were no consecutive losers.  If I had bought 100 shares in January, I would have made $780 gross and with $15 commissions round-trip on 18 trades, I would have given my broker $270 of that, netting $510 or a 10% net gain in less than 8 months.  That is right up there with many of the top performing short term financial funds, YTD.  It, of course, completely obliterates a buy and hold of about 2 $/share.  Not bad for a long-only swarm.

Overall, combining the performance of all my watched swarms, they are attaining an average annualized return of 27%.

Customer Quote
M. F. in New Jersey says...
"I would think that a static system breaking down is a given and only a matter of time. I see much of the swarms functionality applied to systems as a method to knock an already robust system back into phase with the market conditions of the moment."
