Summer Sale!

Mid to late Summer, frankly, is a slow time for us.  Everyone in the USA is busy frolicking in the nice weather and most of Europe is on vacation. You can use this to your advantage to pick up your first license, or maybe additional ones, at a great investment value.  Interested?  Snag it quick, this is for a limited time.

Dakota Success

Customers Clock-in Gains
Mike in New Jersey sends us a great SP500 Futures (ES) system using bots he wrote himself that shows robustness in all sorts of markets.  He built this system using BioComp Dakota end-of-day and tells me it has 77% winners while in the market about 50% of the time.  The images come out a bit dark so click on the image below to see the full size one (863 KB jpeg).

(SP500 Futures ES)

Mike also shows us the same system with a bit more history as applied to the SP500 index.  The fact that it works both on futures and the index is telling of its robustness.  Click on the image below too, to see the full size one (hang on, she's a choker at 1,312 KB but I want you to see well).

(SP500 Index)

A good customer in The Netherlands just posted in our forums a screenshot of an excellent system he is actively trading that has been cleaning up in these recent volatile markets.  I'll go see if he'll agree to post those images here in the newsletter next time.

A Peek into the Labs:
       Virtual Private Super-Computing

We've been inventing the next generation technology for our commercial/industrial Intellect product line and have created a technical infrastructure that supports high capacity computing.  We already have some of this capability in Profit Elite, the ability to use up to 8 CPUs (or "cores") to build models, but what is coming out of the labs for Intellect 3.0  is different in many ways:
  • Profit Elite uses DCOM to talk between computers, Intellect doesn't
  • Profit is client/server where Profit is the "client" and the other boxes are "servers".  In Intellect 3.0, nodes (computers) are both clients and servers to each other.  This enables the system to be like one virtual machine.
  • Intellect 3.0 is multi-threaded "task" oriented whereby a task of any complexity can be launched and allocated across machines.
  • Intellect 3.0 supports both voluntary and dedicated computing.  Voluntary means that a node joins in when a screen saver starts, much like seti@home.  The computer's resources are made available when the computer is unused.
  • Developers have a wide range of design opportunities.  By running their Intellect compliant program on any node, they have the resources of all, either directly ("Run this on that computer") or allowing the system to allocate tasks "anywhere" for them automatically, or both.

There are many places in both Profit and Dakota where this applies, including batch processing, building models, running many swarms using historical data or on-line, testing systems with repeatability studies, and so on.

It will be quite some time yet when this is applied to Profit and Dakota, but I'm already running the infrastructure myself ("alpha" testing) with 7 computers totaling 10 CPUs and the first field trials will occur this Fall within our industrial applications for Intellect 3.0.  Stay tuned!

"In my opinion, though, Profit and Dakota are the real deals. Those two programs, coupled with the background, intelligence and discipline to use them … and a pocket sufficiently filled with money … are all that is necessary for one to be consistently successful trading the S&P 500 Futures"
