Dakota Forums

A Studious Reserve
Our forums are an active, yet studious place for Dakota and Profit users to meet, share ideas and leverage off each others' knowledge, understanding and work. With membership in the hundreds, with thousands of thoughtful posts, it contains excellent examples, source code, trading bots, stops, explanations and other valuable and helpful information. With the forums and our dedicated staff, you are not alone, but surrounded with a community of like-minded cooperative friends.

Examples
August: A group of forum users discovered that they were living within a few miles of each other in Virginia. They decided to meet, share ideas and build friendships.

Always: There are quite a few people actively trading the Double-Smoothed Entropy and Stochastic bots. Just download it and apply it to major US indexes, like the S&P500. Simple. Profitable and pretty durn easy. You only need Dakota Express to do this. Pretty safe investment and a great way to start.

September 8th: User A posted an Average True Range Volatility Trader "bot" (a Dakota adaptive trading system), created in Dakota R/T, and User B modified it and ran it in Dakota end-of-day and posted his results:

The lower green curve is the accumulated equity without compounding. Pretty nice. Compound that conservatively and it will be quite exceptional. User C suggested ways to trade the equity curve itself. Very smart. I commented, "Artists, all. I make a brush and palette and paints and you guys make beautiful art. Just grand!", to which the reply was, "Well, I have to say, that's a VERY special set of brush, palette, and paints you've created. Thanks so much for doing it!"

September 6th: User D formed a working group in the forums to develop trend follower bots to compliment his outstanding counter-traders. Not because the counter-traders don't work, no, they work very well, but he wants to diversify his signals because he has real money on the line. The community quickly gravitated to the call and the "swarm of users" immediately formulated definitions, sample code, sample data, test procedures, and other very helpful ideas, methods and information.

Those are a few examples. Mind you, we don't let just anyone into the forums. That is one reason the quality is so very high. As one user called it, "High signal to noise ratio".

The forums are a great supporting asset to you and our products. No charge.

Dakota Masters Degree :

This quarter, a major university in the Southern United States is offering a course where Masters of Business Administration (MBA) students are using Dakota to learn about the financial markets. I can't say the University, because I forgot to ask permission, but it is an honor to be the software of choice for an accredited course.

About Our Products  ...

"In my opinion, though, Profit and Dakota are the real deals. Those two programs, coupled with the background, intelligence and discipline to use them … and a pocket sufficiently filled with money … are all that is necessary for one to be consistently successful trading the S&P 500 Futures"
