Dakota 2.0

We have released Dakota 2.0 for end of day trading, with a number of new features to support the increasing sophistication of our customers. Dakota now has also a News and Tips window that keeps you informed about updates, forums discussions, "Hot Bot" trading systems that are being created and other useful information. You can check for updates via a simple menu selection, too. That way, you are always using the most recent version of the best adaptive trading system tool available.

Some of the more sophisticated features include support for Sentinel bots described below, a new multiple-flock adaptive algorithm, and the ability to counter-trade bot performance by trading the currently weak performers in the expectation of their gains as they revert to the mean performance of the system.

If you have been holding off from getting involved in a "1.0" product, jump on board with 2.0.

For existing customers, this is a paid upgrade unless you are a Dakota "Sponsor" or are leasing the end of day Dakota.

Sentinel Bots

The Power of "Swarms" of Trading Systems
As you may or may not know, Dakota uses "Swarms" of trading systems. This really means it creates numerous copies of a trading system, each with different parameters, such as different periods for moving averages, or true-range, etc. Dakota "steps-forward" this collection of trading systems, optionally adapting each one to current market conditions. Just having a collection of trading systems gives you a significant advantage over other trading tools because you are not trading a single set of fixed parameters, but your systems are spread over a fruitful region, softening the effects of shifting markets. Second, in Dakota you can have these trading systems share information, "collaborate", about what parameters are profitable. Through this collaboration the trading systems' parameters move in profitable directions in order to seek improved equity growth.

Sentinel Bots: What are They?
A "sentinel" bot is a trading system that has fixed parameters that tells the other bots whether it's selected parameter values are making money. It acts as an anchored "Equity Lighthouse", advising of clear waters or equity rocks. The other bots can move towards or away from those parameters to improve their performance. In the most recent update of Dakota 2.0, since sentinel bots may be warning of equity "rocks", now you can ignore their signals and just "play" the signals of the bots that are adapting, or you can include the Sentinel's bot only if its performance is acceptable.

Sentinel bots are not a "Click-n-Do" feature of Dakota, but are implemented through programming or scripting. It isn't hard and there's a lot of discussion in the forums about how they work and how to do them.
