NO Indicators to Build
There are NO technical indicators needed within Dakota.  Just the raw open or close series of the security traded.

NO Models to Build
There is no need to build a model, ever (well, at least in the current plans... maybe competing model-bots might be interesting too!)

Use Dakota to make longer term decisions about where to put your money to manage risk and growth.

Avoid Account Draw-Downs
If you were like many people, your accounts were "managed" by your fund manager during the bursting of the internet bubble and the subsequent market decline.  Many index funds lost a sizable part of their equity and you lost a large part of your fund balance.  We personally know people that had to leave retirement and go back into the workplace, because of this ongoing situation.  This could have been avoided.

Using Dakota, you could have responded to the decline in the markets and moved your assets to money markets or other investments.

The top chart on the right shows the SP500 index over the last 10 years.  The equity of funds keyed to the SP500 follows the price, including the large drawdown, a drawdown that has yet to recover and has been underway for more than five years.

The bottom chart is Dakota's equity in index points.  Dakota determined that the decline in the markets was significant and exited, preserving your equity.  You would have more money in your fund now, than the "peak" in the year 2000.

See how easy it is to do this!

Example: Vanguard Wellington Admiralty Fund
The Vanguard Wellington Admiralty fund is one of many that invests in a blend of stocks (68%), bonds(31%) and short-term interest bearing securities (1%).  Over it's life (inception date: May 14, 2001) the fund first declined and then climbed, as seen on the right.

Running Dakota on this fund since inception, Dakota determined that you should not take a position (buy into the fund) initially, to avoid the decline, but as the fund reversed, Dakota indicated that entering the fund was to your advantage.  Along the way, Dakota suggested exiting the fund twice and reentering.  The resulting equity (gain) is shown below.  Dakota made two "trades" in the fund, both money makers (100% correct) and "beat the fund" by over 200%.  The fund's buy-and-hold was 3.14 points, but the equity you would have achieved following Dakota's recommendations is 6.702 points.

Note: At the time this material was written, the president of BioComp has (had) monies invested in this fund and has an interested in the fund's performance and also, the ability of Dakota to aide in his decisions to remain or depart from this fund.  The information given is merely an example and is in no way a recommendation to buy or sell this fund.

NOTE: The performance shown is hypothetical and have not been substantiated by records of actual trading.  Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading.  Also, since the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity.  Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown.
