The
Easy Steps Towards Optimal Solutions
To use AcumenGA, add it into Excel an just follow these steps:
-
Open a workbook.
-
Use a block of cells
for parameters that you wish to optimize.
-
Create a formula that
you want to minimize or maximize that uses those parameters
-
Create a "Control
Sheet" and specify:
-
The minimum and
maximum values for the optimized parameters
-
The precision
(steps or levels) at which these variables will be evaluated
-
Whether you wish
to minimize or maximize the result
-
Optionally adjust
the number of iterations to do (length of search, usually
between 100 and 5000)
-
Select the cells to
optimize and then select
"Tools | AcumenGA: Set Optimized Range" from Excel's
menu
-
Select the cell with
the formula then select
"Tools | AcumenGA: Set Target Cell"
-
Select "Tools |
AcumenGA: Optimize"
You will see
numbers "whirring" in the spreadsheet as alternatives are
being evaluated. After the number of iterations (tries) have
passed, the best result is placed into the worksheet. |

 AcumenGA's
control sheet is simple and straightforward. Just set the
minimum and maximum allowed values and the levels (precision), how
many alternative solutions to evaluate and whether you wish to
minimize or maximize the result. Simple! |
